1S. Antipas, Ep. M. (11. Apr.) Der hl. Antipas war Bischof von Pergamus in Kleinasien, welcher in der Apokalypse (2,13.) vom Herrn selbst sein »treuer Zeuge« genannt wird. Als er in der Verfolgung des Kaisers Domitian die Teufel aus den Götzenbildern verjagte, wurde er gefänglich eingezogen und seines standhaften, freimüthigen Bekenntnisses wegen im J. 92 in einen glühend gemachten ehernen Ochsen geworfen und verbrannt. Sein Grabmal ist durch die vielen daselbst gewirkten Wunder sehr berühmt geworden. Sein Name steht am 11. April im Mart. Rom.
