Damaris, (4. Oct.). Vom Griechischen δάμαρ = Gattin, Ehefrau etc. – Diese Damaris, nach Andern auch Damalis genannt, eine allem Anscheine nach vornehme Frau, war aus der Zahl jener, welche zu Athen dem hl. Paulus anhingen und auf seine Predigt an Christum glaubten (Apostg. 17,34). Nach einigen Vätern war sie die Frau des hl. Dionysius Areopagita, und wird ihr Andenken von der griechischen Kirche am 4. Oct. begangen (cl. Surius 9. Oct.). Im Mart. Rom. ist dagegen ihr Name nicht zu finden.
